Catering Department

Introduction

The catering department has a particular responsibility to ensure all patients receive a variety of food that is nutritionally adequate and acceptable to the patient, as they rely almost entirely on the hospital for their food supply. Thus we endeavour to make every effort to ensure all meals are prepared to a high standard and presented and served in a friendly and professional manner. However if as a patient at St. Michael’s you require something in particular or have any queries please do not hesitate to ask the ward catering personnel whom will take your order for lunch and tea every morning or alternatively ask to speak to the Catering Manager.

Location

The catering department is located on the ground floor near the Lower Georges Street entrance to the hospital.

Catering Office Opening Hours

Monday – Friday 7.30am to 6.30pm
Saturday – Sunday 7.30am to 3.00pm

Main Kitchen Opening Hours

Monday – Sunday 7.00am to 5.00pm

Staff Restaurant Opening Hours

Monday – Friday 9.00am to 2.30pm
Saturday – Sunday 9.30am – 11.30am *
Should staff require a hot lunch at the week end they may order and pay for it in the canteen before 11.30am and then collect later from the main kitchen.

Monday – Friday 9.00am – 9.30am
11.00am – 1.00pm
1.45pm – 14.30pm
Unfortunately due to space restrictions the staff restaurant is only for use by staff at all other times.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located on the ground floor – two in the last seating area in the canteen’ one of which dispense snacks and bars and the other dispense hot drinks. A third vending machine is located outside the canteen area on the corridor and this machine dispenses fruit, yogurts, sandwiches, crackers, biscuits, salads etc.

Further vending machines are located in the out patients area and on the new link corridor.
